Dear Friends, Fans and SoulMates,
There are many stressors at work now: being confined – sometimes alone, and sometimes with a partner and/or kids you’ve not been around 24/7 in many years except on vacation. Frantic food shopping, whether trying to get a “delivery slot” or venturing into a bricks and mortar operation. And the stress always in the background: staying in good health and keeping loved ones safe.
It might seem like a tough time to talk about the benefits of meditation, if you’re not already a practitioner. There’s a lot of pressure to “use this time to accomplish things” we’ve been intending to do.
So let’s consider Stillness instead.
Wellness Through Stillness
Margarita Tartakovsky, M.S., associate editor of PsychCentral says that “Stillness is powerful. Being still is like replenishing the stores. It allows us time and space to self-reflect and actually hear our thoughts. Remember that just because the world around us is in full-blown chaos, doesn’t mean we always need to join in.” She also quotes Hermann Hesse: “Within you there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat any time.” You can read her article about attaining stillness here.
