Instead of giving cookies and tins of popcorn this year, why not give the gift of wellness.

Cookbooks.  Be careful not to give ‘diet’ cookbooks as that could mean you are telling them they are too plump.  Instead focus on healthy, nutritious cookbooks that feature delicious recipes that use lots of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Spa Service. Health is not just about fitness, it is also about peace of mind and relaxation. A relaxing massage to ease sore muscles, a soothing facial to help dry skin or a mani/pedi for pampering are wonderful ideas.

Healthful Beauty Products. You can find lots of great beauty products at your local health food store such as paraben-free products (paraben has been linked to cancer), nail polish without fermaldehyde, and natural soaps.

Agriculture Membership. Many areas have farmshares, where local farms deliver organic, seasonal food to the home each week. Giving your loved ones delicious seasonal veggies will encourage them to eat nutritious meals.

Brain Teasers. Keeping the mind active and challenged is an important part of mental health. Soduku puzzles, mystery apps, crosswords puzzles and scrambles all keep the mind sharp.
