Some of the most popular movies were based on books: Gone With The Wind, The Wizard of Oz, not to mention Harry Potter.  2012 has some much anticipated movies based on best sellers.  Here are some top picks:

One for the Money – (Romantic Comedy). Based on the book from Janet Evanovich.  After losing her job and her car is repossessed, Stephanie Plum enters her cousin’s bail bond business and becomes a bounty hunter.  Her main target: her ex-boyfriend from high school.  But as the case goes along, she realizes he may not be guilty of the crime. Starring Katherine Heigl, Jason O’Mara and John Leguizamo.

John Carter – (Science Fiction). Based on the book form Edgar Rice Burroughs. A civil war officer is transported to Mars and is taken captive by the men of Thark.   He soon discovers that the fate of Mars’ civilization rests in his hands.  Starring Taylor Kitsch and William DeFoe.

The Hunger Games – (Action). Based on the book by Suzanne Collins. Set in the future, the Government picks a young boy and a young girl from one of the towns to fight each other to the death on national TV.  Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrelson and Donald Sutherland.

Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter – (Horror). Based on the book by Seth Grahame-Smith. When President Lincoln’s mother is killed by a vampire, Lincoln has no choice but to hunt vampires and their slave owning helpers.  Starring Benjamin Walker and Jacqueline Fleming.

The Hobbit – (Fantasy). Based on the book by J.R. Tolkein.  The prequel to the Lord of the Rings, Bilbo Baggins unwillingly joins a team of dwarfs to capture the gold of the dragon, Smaug.  Starring Martin Freeman and Richard Armitage.  (This film will be in two parts.)

World War Z – (Horror). Based on the book by Max Brooks.  A researcher from the U.N. travels around the world interviewing survivors from the World War that covered the whole planet – humans against zombies. Starring Brad Pitt and Matthew Fox.
