My first AIDS Walk was in the late 80’s, early 90’s when my dearest friend was diagnosed with the virus. For several years we walked for the cure; in the end it was difficult for him but we walked anyway, slowly, but we did it. When he died, it took me a few years before I walked again; and, in the last several years, I have not walked at all in spite of all good intentions.
Now it’s 2012 and I feel compelled to walk in memory of my friend, Rusty Montalvo, and invite soul mates, friends, fans and tweeps to join in and participate on behalf of their family members, friends or friends of friends, or colleagues who are living with, or may have died as a result of the AIDS virus.
In New York, the AIDS Walk is on the 20th May 2012. So, anyone interested in walking for a cure, join the Soul Posse team, set up your own donation page and raise funds from your own network.
For anyone, in other cities, who is interested in participating, here are the approximate dates of events in your city.
